The Floppy Organ, a musical instrument made from old floppy disk drives by Toolbox Bodensee e.V. an electronics nonprofit youth group based in Markdorf, Germany. The Floppy Orgel is constructed from 49 floppy disk drives connected to an Arduino Uno controller board running a code to translate MIDI signals from a keyboard into motor pulses for the drives.
The video shows the Floppy Organ playing songs including Yiruma’s “River Flows in You,” Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On,” the theme to Tetris and the main theme from the Pirates of the Caribbean.
